How to Take Care of Your Skin in Fall

Posted by Olena Kubrak on

After summer, the skin is dehydrated and severely damaged; therefore, caring for it from mid-September should be comprehensive, aimed at simultaneously protecting, restoring, nourishing, and renewing. Instaskincare will share that with you on that.

Protection and Recovery

Due to exposure to the sun's rays, the skin becomes dehydrated, dry, and pigmentation often appears. In our climatic zone, heat, as a rule, is abruptly replaced by cold. Windy weather and humid air disrupt barrier functions, which negatively affect stressed skin with hypersensitivity, peeling, and irritation; blood vessels become brittle and fragile; as a result, rosacea develops, local skin resistance to external stimuli decreases. Subsequently, dehydration is enhanced by the influence of central heating. Therefore, in addition to SPF, the cream must restore the lipid barrier. It is not worth giving up SPF products even in the fall: there should be a protection factor on the face in the daytime with a level of 15–20. Sometimes filters are included in the composition of tonal means, in which case an additional layer is not required. Type A ultraviolet light is present in the solar spectrum at any time of the year and perfectly penetrates the clouds: tanning in November, of course, will not work, but it is quite possible to get hyperpigmentation.

Autumn is the perfect time for glycerin and hyaluronic acid products. These components attract moisture from the environment, which is abundant in autumn, and give it to the skin, making it fresher, hydrated, and turgor.

Creams must contain regenerating, nourishing, and moisturizing active ingredients to restore the hydrolipidic mantle. An excellent solution is to use serums under the cream, depending on the condition of the skin. They can be hyaluronic acid-based moisturizers, vitamins, whitening. It is ideal to use masks after the sun or anti-stress, which have a regenerating, refreshing, nourishing, moisturizing, soothing effect.

Regenerate

In cooler months, the process of natural skin renewal slows down, this is why the skin becomes dull, lifeless, uneven relief, and dryness appear. You can activate the update process using peels. "I recommend using fruit acids, glycolic and salicylic acids for more intense exfoliation. For a milder effect, you can pay attention to two-phase peels with acids and oils.

If a person is at the sea or ocean in the summer, then water procedures are relatively safe if the skin's hydrolipid layer is not disturbed. But if the skin initially produces insufficient oil and is dry, then excessive exposure to saltwater can lead to severe dehydration. Dry air is also a dehydrating factor, but if a person maintains a water balance, the skin's protection is expected due to sweat. If a person has just returned from rest, then care procedures with traumatic techniques (laser and phototherapy) are not carried out - after the sea and sun, the skin needs a little rest.

It is better to wait with scrubs because with such mechanical damage, and the skin will not have time to recover. The update should be adequate but delicate. "When exposed to the sun, human skin is protected from ultraviolet radiation not only by melanin but also by hyperkeratosis, that is, by a thick layer of horny cells on the surface of the skin. And on a tanned face: the thickened stratum corneum hides all the irregularities. As soon as it gradually comes down and takes on an average thickness, the state of the pores clogged with those dead cells will be unpleasantly surprised.

Peeling

Now you can inject brighteners into your beauty routine to eliminate those age spots that you got from sunburn and prolonged exposure to the outdoors. In addition, it's time to take care of facial rejuvenation with acid peels and creams in the fall. But no amateur performances! Only a cosmetologist can select the suitable acids, and even more, so carry out a professional peeling.

You can also start more profound cleansing programs such as exfoliation and scrub, which should be avoided during the summer. The fact is that in summer, with high solar activity, such aggressive programs can provoke pigmentation and other consequences of exposure to direct sunlight.
